Bad example: This graphic design shows contrast in color and texture. However, woman and skull is a very common and dull topic of contrast. And the woman in the picture is old and not very beautiful, which brings down the effect of contrast.

This is the navigation of universal studio park. I think the challenge of this is making the map as clear as possible. Because there are so many place in the park, it is hard to find where is where when tourists moving in it. The designer for this map uses the exactly same shape of each building of different place. The map is 2D but seems as a 3D space with these buildings in. So, when tourists move in the park, they can go whatever the place they want to according to the building shape and the different space they located. 
This is a 3D graphic design. We can see 2 mainly depth/size cues in here, overlap and relative size. It shows overlap because the buildings cover 2 mummies, so the buildings are seen as being in front of mummies. Also, the left mummy that is smaller than the right one can be perceived as farther according the depth cue, relative. Moreover, the building parts in the sky combine both overlap and relative size perfectly, so we can them in space - some are near, some are far. Additionally, there are a little bit of linear perspective and texture gradient showing in this design.
This is a 3D graphic design. The designer uses green as a main color on the word to express the feeling of "summer". But, some of the letters are more yellow, why? I think the reason is the topic of the graphic is not about summer but about "summer is going out", so the yellow letters express the coming season - fall. More over, the white and blue background makes "SUMMER" pop out.
